What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file sent by a website server to your browser and stored on your device. Cookies allow website operators to accumulate useful information, such as whether the device or user has visited before. They make websites work more efficiently and can provide information about how a site is used.
How do we use cookies?
We use cookies to monitor how people use our website, including estimating audience size and patterns of use, to help us provide a better service. Cookies also make it easier to use the website on future visits and allow us to remember preferences.
We use both persistent cookies (which expire on a specified date) and session cookies (which expire when you close your browser).
The cookies used on this site are categorised using the ICC UK Cookie Guide:
- Strictly necessary cookies. Required for the operation of our website.
- Analytical / performance cookies. Allow us to recognise and count visitors and see how visitors move around the site.
- Functionality cookies. Used to recognise you when you return, personalise content and remember preferences such as your theme choice.
- Targeting cookies. Record your visit, the pages you have visited and the links you have followed.
Third parties, such as providers of web traffic analysis or advertising services, may also use cookies over which we have no control.
You decide which cookies we use
We ask when you first visit whether you consent to optional cookies. If you do not allow certain cookies, it may prevent you from accessing parts of the website or reduce functionality.
You can also configure cookie settings in your browser:
